Title: dc-18
Post by: gundy on February 01, 2016, 03:57:13 pm
i bought a used dc-18 at a price i could afford even if i didn't get it to run. The suction seems to be fine, but the brush does not rotate. i have disconnected the brush and put power to the electrical leads and it does rotate. so the problem must be above that. can you suggest how to determine where the problem is?

If I am understanding you correctly, the brushroll isnt turning, but when you wire directly to it, then it is?

If that is the case, the likely culprit is this loom (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC18-coiled-cable-loom-assembly-914316-01.htm), but it is a bit of a swine to fit.

Same issue here, I haven't looked into it yet.

Hey Gundy, what was the power source you started the brush with directly? I'm assuming it had to be a direct current source...? I know the DC15 is AC, but I was told it was the only one.

Just wondering while we're on the subject! Thanks.
