Title: DC19T2 Animal Handle Inner Seal Thing
Post by: ploppy on November 12, 2018, 03:38:33 pm
If you look inside the trigger handle for this model, there's a sort of seal that wand buts up against when it's clicked in.  It's a circular piece of foam or rubber or something.  Anyway, mine's distorted and become loose so when I now attach the wand there's a small bit of play - it's not snug anymore and you can easily pinch your fingers in the gap between the wand and the handle.  I guess it's also losing a bit of suction.  Any idea if this seal is replaceable? Not sure if it's glued in or what.

Generally, internal parts of this nature don't come on their own. Unless you can make one up or have an old handle to cannibalise. That said, those handles are quite cheap anyway to replace.

Cheers, I'd pretty much come to that conclusion.  I think I'll try and stick the old one back in and see how it goes.  New handles are £24 so it's worth a try first.

BTW, the button that releases the handle from the wand had a lot of gunk underneath it, so maybe it wasn't fully retracting when pressed down. Cleaned all that out and now I can press it down further.  I guess this may have been the original issue but it resulted in a lot of pulling and wiggling in frustration, and maybe that is what actually caused the seal to distort.
