Today I have been mostly fixing the 1980s kenwood chef.

Very swollen capacitor, smoky and smelly, kit on eBay cost £15. Came with 2 new capacitors, resistor and triac, new motor brushes (not needed but nice to have) 5 new rubber feet and emailed instructions.

Done many, see james may did the reassembly recently on a tv show.
I remember my first, and thought how the hell do i get that to bits ! I did an italian icecream making machine (knackered gearbox) the other day - followed with an egg incubator with a seized fan.
I think it would be interesting to see (if ok with admin) other products being repaired and knowledge shared as the experience gained can be useful in some of the more complicated vacs ?
Currently i already do this on nearly everything i repair on TMF, keith on mvacs (ashlec) knows me there as teletech.
Have you repaired this as a paid job Madrat, your own or just repaired it for fun ?

I thought the exact same thing until the instructions came through, how do I get into that? It was so simple it was beautiful. Its our chef, bought it for £35, was suppose to be working but as soon at it had and load on it, it smoked, and I recognised the smell instantly, was nice to work on, proper thick PCB with nice fat lead based solder joints. Didn't even need solder pump or braid.

last one i had on bench was from a cake shop, icing sugar dust had been sucked in to motor over the years, brushes had seized solid and the commutator was badly damaged. refused quote for motor replacement sadly, bought a new one - which will not last.
Quality made item as you say, i had to laugh as kenwood was Ken Wood the designer ? , simple as that i think james may said

Never saw the program, but yes Ken Wood was the man. Went to delongi with all manufacture going to China in 2002

I agree, and have moved this into the room we have already that broadly covers this. ;D
As and when we get a few topics on new subjects, I move them into a new room accordingly. So yes, let's have more electronics.
