Title: Sebo X1.1
Post by: absolutepurplelime on December 17, 2015, 03:52:07 pm
I must of been good this year as santas voice came into my head earlier and suggested i should treat myself to this. I had an old 80s X1 before i must say this 1.1 in fantastic. Anyone ever used sebos own air fresheners??? Do they smell good?

Very nice! That looks new
I wanted a sebo for a while, never got round to getting one. I like the X4 and Felix, want to get them one day :)

I had an original X1 from the 90s but the height adjuster messed up so i stripped it down and made 4 times what it cost back in parts.

We may be about to become Sebo dealers, so I am on a Sebo learning curve. Your timing is perfect - please post more about them!

And if anyone has or knows of a modestly priced one, I need one or two for our blokes to take to bits and rebuild. A heads up on used values would be good too if anyone knows.

Oh very good timing indeed. You know my loyalty to the dyson brand but these really do kick a dysons arse. You should be able to pic an early X1 up off ebay for cheap. Its the same guts inside as the x1.1 and x4 but just older styling with the plastics. The one i got last year was a tenner and it worked well but the automatic height adjustment was abit rough and it gave in eventually. I decided to brake it for spares on ebay and made about 50 quid just from the plastics and the main motor. When buying them used they never seem to be broken as they are so durable. Just scruffy and in need of a service, also you will notice the cost difference in genuine parts. They are a hell of alot cheaper than dyson bits when it comes to belts tools hoses and little trivial bits. Take a risk and buy a couple off ebay as how i see it their is nothing wet and dry and automotive polish cant get rid of on modern plastics.

I will send you some links on ebay if i find any i might think are worth your attention as i am always on it. Oh and by the way nutty Dc08 woman has been blocked as its borderline harassment lol silly woman!!!!

Oh and as of used values. They depreciate like an Audi or BMW very well, like miele infact people will still pay good money for them used on ebay and thats just a domestic seller. Refurbed you would be wanting 100 odd per machine if its really nice and tidy.

Beats me how they are better than Dysons looking at the brushbar, but I guess facts are facts :P The Sebos do agitate quite well, seen videos and it makes me want them even more- I love how everything comes apart too

I think the weight on the head helps push them into the carpet better.

I've seen pictures of people stripping the auto height adjuster apart though, and it looked fooking in depth!

From what I've seen though, you can only buy 'whole assemblies' of parts, rather than individual components. You'll have to get a racking set aside for breakers, and become the go-to place for sebo parts (would probably cost a fortune though).

Don't any of your contacts get scrap sebo's in like they do Dysons? The chap I used to speak to said he had to buy everything rather than pick and choose. If you can get in contact with the local Sebo pikey, he may be able to help you out?

If you see any within 10 miles of SL7 1LQ or OX9 3XZ I'll happily collect and relay to you.

I shall be asking that question.

Sebo dealer...is this a result of you having more space in the new premises, or (heresy) are you finally falling out of love with Dysons?
Why go the route of being an official Sebo dealer, rather than just offering Sebo service and parts unofficially? Just curious.
My SIL has had Sebo's for years; very solid build, but the spares prices remind me of Miele-about £100 for a motor?

Shiny new stuff to fill the shop?

Agree about spares though, Miele can be eyewatering. I looked up the cost of new power, cord rewind and rear trim buttons for my S5, £35 plus vat plus delivery direct from Miele (which is the only place I could find them) - I didn't bother in the end...

A cord rewind for an S5 is about £140 plus vat plus shipping apparently, no way would that be worth it over a new cleaner! (unless it's the easy broken cord issue, rather than whole rewind borkage)

More space is one, not being a one trick pony is another. But as we want to sell some new machines, I don't really want to sell new Dysons as the product isnt what it was. I want to sell good stuff that works well. Recon Dysons and new Sebos may be it for now. Fast forward five years and I doubt any of us will be reconning DC40's and DC41's due to what I regard as built in obsolescence. Cant sell DC14, 24 and 25 forever.

We probably can do both.

And this.  ;D

Will the sebo rep have any info on demographics around your area though? Would the shop +30 miles be the sort of place where a brand new spiffy vac at it's cost, then a 4 year maintenance contract for £x, including bags when needed, and a filter for every box of bags, new brushroll every year etc be possible? t's and c's apply of course.

You could roll the dysons in with it, and have a cost menu, so £70 plus £50 gives you an as new dc07 with a 4 year maintenance pack (so filters every year, belt every 2, 40% off any fixage etc), up to £250 for an X1.1 (so undercutting JL http://www.johnlewis.com/sebo-x4-automatic-excel-eco-upright-vacuum-cleaner-blue/p1707684, not sure what cost you will get them directly for though), plus £130 for the 4 year package, then everything inbetween?

This was my original X1 from last christmas i mentioned. Was good but the height adjustment was dodgy and used to make an awful ratcheting sound. Paid a tenner for it. Got a tenner for the box of bags that came with it that were for a cylinder sebo. Got about 20 odd quid for the base plastics. Motor went for a fair bit and all the circuit board and tools etc probably for another 20-30 so made me some good money. :)
