Title: I bought a Dyson DC40!
Post by: Parwaz7862 on February 16, 2015, 07:08:17 pm
I just won this auction on eBay, for sale due to the owner had passed away. I put £37.01 as my max bid and went out. When. I came home, a beautiful sight met my eyes when I had checked my iPad. A green colour at the top congratulating me of my purchase! Behold the Dyson DC40 Multi floor :)

You stole that Parwaz! Well played.

Had they listed it as a DC40 rather than an "upright hoover" it would have done three figures.

Cheers! The scary but relieving thing is that. I was £1 away from being outbidded :O but glad I bided £37 instead of £35

And yes 😃 so glad, its in full working order, they are selling it because the previous owner had passed away, so it's not needed anymore sadly. But hey, I am keeping it! :) hope there's no spirits inside it 😱

How is the performance of the DC40 vs a DC25? I am currently on my second DC25 :) with 3 DC14's and a broken DC04 which needs a new motor, clutch, brush, soleplate and wand ahh

I don't think you are old enough to have owned an 80's era Lancia? They used to kind of disintegrate around your ears. You could almost hear them rusting away. These are the vacuum equivalent of a 1980 Lancia Gamma. Expect it to fall to bits and break. As the owner of a DC14, its like comparing a Mercedes S Class to a Kia when you buy a DC40.

At least we have the adaptor to allow you to use your DC14 tools with it.  ;D

Hehe, nice! I agree, the DC14 is probably the most sturdy and robust Dyson made. The plastics rarely snap and can take a  good pounding. In my house we have. Mixture of colours. Carpets upstairs and tiles downstairs with large area rugs. Out of all Dysons we have owned from DC01 to DC25 (except the DC11,15,18 and the cylinders after the 14, none of them can easily vacuum the one carpet in my house. In my bedroom there's a really thick pile carpet, like American style, even the trusty DC14. Origin with seals in the soleplate ant cope well, but  it does alright.

Thought the DC25 would be good, but I was wrong. The cleaner head is way to lightweight so when the heavy ball digs into the pile, the cleaner head is lifted up so it is as efficient as a DC01 :/
