Title: Utube Myth Busters
Post by: Vacuum Cleaner House on March 30, 2011, 10:57:36 pm
Utube is a wonderful thing that to me seems to allow people to be duped from around the world.

While showing a customer a new dyson the other day she said that she had seen clips on U tube that show the dyson  does not suck u the dirt as well as a sebo( there are a few of these with various makes against dyson.)

I keep a few other brand ( Mielè , sebo Kirby orek ) vacuums around just for this purpose .

I dually hauled out the sebo with a fresh bag in it and “busted the myth”
The dyson did just fine ulike the one in the clip (probably sabotaged) It even pulled up dirt that the sebo left behind.

On that note in one of the more popular anti dyson clips they put a dc07 up against a oreck but in the clip ( which is taken in a vacuum shop ) you can clearly see ( if you know what you are looking for ) that the brush control knob is turned to the off position so it is no wonder it leaves the fluff behind  :'(

Think of it this way it’s easy to manipulate a video.

If  clips on U tube were true Myth Busters would be out of a job.

YouTube has some good stuff on there (we have some stuff on there too: https://www.youtube.com/user/ManchesterVacs ) . But there is also a lot of guff put out by vacuum repair/sales shops or anyone that has an opinion.

Do you have the link for the one you mention?

What say we ask anyone who is a member here to paste a link from a YouTube video they have seen and we'll tell them if we think its the truth? Although we are both Dyson people, I think its fair to say we don't wear rose-coloured glasses and don't believe every item that was ever produced by Dyson was great.

Folks, post your vacuum related YouTube clips here and lets chat about them.  :icon_nod:

I will have to look for it again .
I really like dyson vacuums but not all of them, there are certain models I don't like or that I think a beter job could have been done.
 IE
I am busy using a dyson dc27 at the moment I think it is really great machine with such a powerfull suction its unbelievable But I hate the attachments , I prefer the 3 tools particularly the seprate dusting brush not the stupid two in one crevice tool that all the new machines come with,
It is also lacking the small side brushes on the cleaner head so it doesn't clean up against the edges so well.

What people need to understand is that most of thses clips are posted by vacuum cleaner shops who are tied to a particular brand , Miele , riccar , Morce , Orek , they make a good amount of money selling bags to there customers, customers that they won't see when they buy a dyson and don't need bags any more, they are running scared.

I sell many makes of vacuum cleaners but I do believe that for what you pay , as long as you get the right model there is no better machine out there

I once saw a clip of a guy who could not get a piece of paper to stick to the nozzle of a dc15 with the brushbar off. I tried it myself and it stuck very well to the plate with the brush off. So the video was twoddle.

Seen that! Rigged as hell, even a worn out DC03 can lift paper better!

Tried it on a DC07 and it stuck on very well

I don't trust reviews when they are set in vacuum shops that specialise in certain brands as they can easily make their prefered brand look better.

Should we trust reviews from chaps who reputedly get free ones from large retailers?  :whist11:

I'm sure even the free ones are tested fairly. Can you remove me from this forum please.
