I found you guys through Google - think I needed a DC07 part in that awful Clic pink but wasn't having any luck on eBay as bit of an uncommon colour.

Tried looking for somewhere else with sensible prices and found your online shop with the part I needed. Was then only a matter of time before I came across the forum!

Would have searched Dyson parts, you weren't at the top of results so it took a few clicks to find you.

that awful Clic pink

For anyone that doesn't know about the awful Clic pink, here is a picture I took in the shop of one last year.

[attachimg=1]

 :sick0012:

I think they were a special edition with part of the profits going to breast cancer research.

A couple of months ago, a lady called our shop and asked for one of those "three tone Barbie pink Dysons" that she couldn't find anywhere. Apparently, she was a girlie pink girl. Her house was pink, her car was pink. She wanted a pink Dyson too!

We had a couple in the back, and we rebuilt one for her. She was overjoyed when she got it!  :icon_nod:

Thanks for the feedback Russ. Anyone else reading, please chip in and tell us how you found us.

I found the site originally from a link from the Dyson medic site.

Then I found the parts shop, and we ended up buying a recon machine back end of last year. Which is still going strong.....

PS, that pink one is yakky.

Hi

Found this forum through searching Google and then Dyson Medic.

Had a blockage in my DC25 switch hose. Managed to get the switch hose out, but for the life of me I cannot get the damned thing back in!  I cannot seem to get the 2 'lugs' to fit back in their respective holes. Can anyone suggest how to do this. I'm definately doing something wrong here?  Not the easiest of the hose pieces to work with.
Many thanks. Daisy

   I found your site doing a search for dyson dc07 schematics.  After 6 years my vacuum wold no longer turn on and after looking it overI felt for sure I could fix it myself. I ordered the parts and Angus Blacks workshop manual a few days ago, but I still want that schematic so I'm back to you forum today to print it off.

I love my Dyson and will never be without one so I think it is only right that I learn to keep it in good condition.  Since I invested in the repair manual I told my husband he will need to find me a non working vacuum to work on next!

I have a DC08 Animal Pro with one of those rare "Panasonic-style" motors inside. The motor gave up, so I started to search for a solution on the internet. After I Googled something like DC08 motor replacement I found this forum.
So now I have a forum, but no solution yet  :reading:

I started a new post that was entitled "Dyson DC17 handle will not lay down" (I think)
It would be great if someone here could steer me in the right direction. I do not view myself as a stupid man however, tearing into such a machine without first soliciting wisdom from those older and wiser would prove me to be wrong.

Google search > Dyson Medic > Forums

This is a great forum.
Things like this are really examples of the internet at its best.

With the help of user forums, I have successfully tackled many projects in the last 10 years that I never would have attempted before the internet era.
There's so much knowledge and experience out there (on nearly every topic), and so many people willing to help.

Many thanks to all of you who host, moderate, and participate.

Hi All

Started playing with Dysons sometime back because 1) They are generally really good 2)They are far too expensive for a mere mortal like me 3:) I/We love buying them cheap at car boots  4) I /we love taking things apart  5) love the end result when you bring one back from the dead to a near as new condition

I used to do most of this by myself, but we had a friend who was severely paralysed by a car accident and my wife used to help him rebuild things ( like Dysons ) that he couldn't because of his disability so now we are a husband and wife team  and I tend to do all the electrical side as that is my line of work. I wonder if there are any more out there like us.. ....  Oh it was a link from someones reply on here ....well you asked......

Welcome Spike.  :tiphat:

I think there are many who do the same. Some of the parts orders we get are mixed bits for half a dozen different machines.

Whenever I go on a car boot sale, there is always some bloke that runs past me clutching an old Dyson in each hand.  :chuckle:

Although, some of the machines I see on car boot sales that are allegedly 'refurbished' are truly shocking cobbled together crap.

Can you tell if it is the motor or the brush bar motor the noise is coming from?

Have you tried removing the cyclone/bin assembly and switching it on?
Just incase it is some thing blocking the cyclone, but the worst case is it is the motor that is on it's way out.

Hi found this link on ebay looking for a wand for a dc15 animal my wife has worn the end which I now know to be a collar down to about 3/4 inch she prefers to just use the tip rather than fit a tool and of course has never read the instructions of any gadget in her life so no tools fit nd i seem to be spending an awful lot of time and money picking up the pieces of failed products so a collar at a tenner sounds a lot better than a wand at thirty quid.
So saw the collar advertised on ebay and need to ascertain if it will fit the dc15 anybody know ?

I know an aftermarket wand tip/collar is available for the DC14 but it won't fit the DC15.

The DC15 wasn't a huge hit for Dyson so there isn't really much of a market for spares for this model I'm afraid.

If it is the DC15 you have, it will have to be a new wand unless you're lucky enough to come across someone with a broken wand but salvageable tip that they'd be happy to sell.

Hallo to everybody!

I think I found the link to this forum in another one, Dysonmedic. To be honest it seems to me that Dysonforum gives better answers, with more details about the "hardware" . That's why I registered here. I bought a few months ago a Dyson DC25, from Amazon UK. It is a model not commercialised in Italy (there is DC24 here). I would like yo find out why. Anyway the price was reaaally interesting, and as I appreciated very much the air blade driers (quite original and powerful) I decided to give a chance to Dyson. I come from a Worwerk vacuum cleaner, and I must say that they know how to make a vacuum cleaner. Only, they cannot sell it at 2000 euros!!
Bye!

Hi-  found you via Google while searching for a source for new brushes for a Panasonic SDS1301GND 120V motor out of a DC25.  Can't seem to find anywhere-- or at least what I've been looking at on-line doesn't appear to be the same.  Any help-- or should I post a request on the Ball forum?

Hi-  found you via Google while searching for a source for new brushes for a Panasonic SDS1301GND 120V motor out of a DC25.  Can't seem to find anywhere-- or at least what I've been looking at on-line doesn't appear to be the same.  Any help-- or should I post a request on the Ball forum?

Thanks!

Bill

Welcome Bill, yes post a fresh topic in Ball forum to keep it in one place.  ;)

New member,

Have a Dyson contra-rotator washing machine.

Machine was good initially until it failed just out of guarantee, originally purchased in '04, Machine was 'ramping' (a fault when going into contra rotate mode) Dyson repaired it - virtually gutted and completely rebuilt and it worked fine till last week, now it blows all the circuits when switched on so has a fault somewhere!  :(

Found you via eBay

I needed a replacement vac for upstairs (just to save carrying the main one up and down), and bought a DC07 off eBay. Good buy too - all worked OK, but I thought I'd change the filters and found you guys via Google.

Glad I did, but it did get me hooked on the idea of repairing and refurbishing Dysons. Just bought a DC01 for £1, bit dirty and in need of TLC, but I'll get there.

So I now have three Dysons. I wonder where it will end!

On ebay..after 10 years of fighting with 6 dysons (I have to have a new one every few years), asking millions of unanswered questions to random people everywhere, and dismantling my dysons till the point of no recognition to try to fix them myself.  My hubby just loved when I cried cause I broke it more lol.  Anyway, I feel at home now.  Im so relieved.  Shopping for a new dyson again and so many sites give mixed info on the models it is as if they dont know what is what.  Some models come with an accessory and the exact same model sold by another seller doesnt have it..why is that.  Just dumb.

Found you through Google. Searsch "dyson D24 brushbar not working".

Got the D24 from freecycle, needs a bit of work on it. Ended up getting Dyson out for £79 to service it. So a Dyson for that price is ok, I say.

Welcome to the site Rde.

Don't know really why they got rid of it. Just been serviced. New filters, new pipe on the side which had a hole in it which I hadn't noticed, and a new front bit with the motor in it. As new! Sure original freecycler could have done that, but might have been frightened by fact it was just out of guarantee. DOB Feb 2008 apparently.

I was searching via google for information concerning my malfunctioning dyson dc27.  I entered "youtube dyson dc27 disassembly"--eventually read a report by Raven which had pictures showing disassembly of a dc27, in an effort to replace the motor.  Somewhere along the way I saw a post through "dyson forums".  I have therefore registered and will be searching /asking for information concerning my dc27.  The vacuum beater bar started to work intermittently when I pushed the switch; now it does not work at all.  Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Hello There.
I found this forum whilst searching for some direction on the reassembly of my 11 year old Dyson cd11 canister cyclone.  I have disassembled and cleaned it. Now there are two spring loaded pieces of plastic that need to be re-assembled properly in order for me to carry on.  I understand the placement of the dogleg piece with the short spring. It's the long round ended piece with the longer spring that I can not for the life of me get back into place.  I'm assuming that it runs perpendicular to the dogleg and somehow fits inside the button that holds the dust bin onto the cyclone assembly.  I'm hoping someone on this forum may have been down this road before.

I had problems with my DC04 and was investigating on line possible problems, having found the answer then I had to get the spares, to sort the problem only 2 possible contenders and MV seemed the best for delivery, price etc so I ordered and everything arrived within a couple of days, wonderful. Hi all,

I found your very helpful site via Google, I was typing last night and used the phrase 'Thermal switch not working for city dyson' as I have one and every time I used it [only praps used it 20 times from new] it would cut out. The search brought me here to an excellent strip down/rebuild page, I have followed some of the advice and spent all day taking my DC26 City Dyson to bits washing it and then reassembling it I now have to wait for my filters to dry before testing it out. fingers toes and everything else crossed that it sorts the problem!

oh and btw I also have two DC07 Animals which I fully intend to have to bits and see if I can sort the problem that I have with one of them, [maybe interchange bits from one to the other?]

Ooof,  well done on stripping a 26 city! Not the easiest first machine to dive into.

Was anything amiss that was causing the thermal cutout to go? Were the filters dirty?

Dc07s are easier,  all the parts fit each other (well,  apart from the clutch part but the cleaner heads swap around easily)

Hi Beko,

The pre motor filter door was stuck [and still is very stiff] on the DC26 [and much to my shame the filter was very dirty] I knew that from trying to use it before that it'd praps work for 3 mins then cut out. I also tried to disassemble the cyclone, but couldn't for the life of me get the damned handle off, so resorted to a different tack, wash the damned thing whole [after all I had nothing to lose, right?] I can't see anything that would cause the door to be stiff, so am a little confused by that!.

I have two DC07's [Animals] one I have a problem with the motor [making a really odd noise when switched on] and the other one the brush bar sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, also the cowling? that you put your foot on [to get the machine from upright] is very very stiff, have no idea about that! [multifloor] so I was thinking that maybe I could take apart that machine first with the dodgy motor/noise and see if I can do anything with that.

:)

Hi Babooshka: If you have a look in Manchester vacs shop, they sell an excellent book by Angus Black. It tells you all about how to strip & repair the DC07.

Welcome to the Forum by the way.

Through tireless dc17 absolute animal searches via Google. I have one of the pink cancer commerative dc07 in addition to the dc17. Both of which I love! It's absurdly difficult to locate much on the 17 beyond the common filter, belt, or reset of brush bar though.

Had my trustworthy dc01 since time began. Very reliable, no breakdowns until last Sunday 25th Oct. when it started to cut-out while in use. Started to 'jiggle' the mains lead and it re-started up. Did this several times until it refused to re-start. To answer the initial question as to how I discovered your web site, I Googled Dyson dc01 info etc. and arrived at your website. Downloaded the 'exploded view' but not too helpful as several members have stated it would be helpful if a description of the 'ringed' components was shown.
This is my first Forum, I am a mature male and look forward to receiving help and also offering help when possible.

Hi Gundy. What is the issue? If there's no suction to the floor bit when you recline then the changeover valve is broken. No power when you turn it on and you'll need a new motor

Hi
Found the Dyson forum from a search on google.
I was looking for information about my DC04 absolute bought in 1999. Still going strong but had a problem with the main hose.  Searched the advice boards and all solved. Very helpful and spent far too long looking through all the advice, which inspired me to fit new filters and bottom hose.  Working like new!  Thanks
Richard

I think forum is excellent idea

forum could be made easier for members by better grouping of postings
I am particularly interested in dyson washing machines
but have to trawl through all pages of postings  to get washing machine discussions
if postings were fully grouped by model number be it vacuum cleaner or washing machine it would be a lot easier to use

Hello,
I typed 'dyson dc02' into Google......
Very stupidly, I vacuumed up a small amount of brick dust and a few minutes later an awful grinding sound and horrible smell came from the cleaner.......I fear I've buggered the motor up!!
Looking on eBay for a replacement Dyson I decided I'd better check out the spec on my dc02 - and that's when I found this site and realised maybe a repair was possible  :grinn: Despite weighing a ton I love this cleaner as it actually worked well until I killed it!
Having watched your tutorial I reckon I can probably manage this as long as no soldering is involved, and from what I could see it looked like an easy connection.

Post by: beko1987 on June 27, 2016, 11:48:41 pm
Welcome! Its just plug and play,  no soldering required! Youll have it back in business in no time.

Buy the old girl some new filters too,  the brick dust will have ruined them!

New filters and new motor will do 60/70% of this,  and if you fancy a full teardown wash and polish theres a stripdown thread in the dc02 section!

Thanks for the welcome. My Dyson DC14 All Floors is just really dusty and smelly now, despite washing filters. Now the long hose has split, so I have ordered a new hose, pre-motor filter and post-motor filter pad from Manchester Vacs, who were very helpful. I hope the new parts may sort out the problem. Was thinking of buying a new Dyson but the attitude of customer services today has made me think I won't.

If you do get round to considering a new machine, I'd take a look at a Sebo (http://-https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,2161.0.html) over a new Dyson.

You don't need a new machine! If it still smells musty with the new filters, spend an afternoon following my rebuild guide and it will be as new! Both smell wise and performance wise

that awful Clic pink

For anyone that doesn't know about the awful Clic pink, here is a picture I took in the shop of one last year.

(Attachment Link)

I think they were Cancer and Leukemia in Children limited edition

Hi

Just signed up as we just had our first Dyson disaster and found this site via a Google search looking for some info.  For information, I Googled "can I fit a Dyson Cinetic cyclone to a non Cinetic model?" and you were about 5 down on the list if that helps. ;)

Anyway, having had a look around so far, there is some very interesting info.  I've already got a few questions, but I'll wait until I've had a good look before posting.

Hi! Good luck finding some, your probably more likely to find a used but good pair! If it helps your Google fu, they might be listed under CAR20, VC143 or the OE hoover part number was 09021627 which is what the largest spares place used to list them as (they may still be going, but I don't have an account).

Good luck! I may have some somewhere, but have no idea where, but if you get stuck, shout and I'll have a look!

Well daughter gave me her old DC25 it wouldn’t stand up so I had to strip it down, then found the hose too inflexible for better half to extend so I did a search and found YOU. Wish I had earlier as it would have helped with the first prob. No sweat though as I’m a retired engineer ( fishing Industry)

I have never seen anything on repairing the cable rewind just replace it. At 25 to 35 UK that is a heavy hit.
I did it & it now works fine. All it needs is to rewind the spring onto the smaller wheel and then allow the cable to rewind itself.
Hope this helps.

WOW!!

What a brilliant forum

Found you simply by googling my DC40 brush bar not working.

Would have wasted money on at least a new head motor until I found out on here about the inherent fault on these where the wires are actually clean cut, somehow?  :'(

Anyway, using my trusty soldering iron, heat shrink tubing and a lot of cursing, thanks to beko1987's incredible pictorial stripdown I've got ours running for now until I get a new loom. Just need to find out what is cutting through the wires...

Our trusty Dyson DC 32 Animal which has endured eight years of Cyprus dust decided to quit rather spectacularly last evening. Having returned to UK we affixed the tv bracket to the lounge wall, sucking up as much dust as possible in the process. The next task, a light dusting of a cupboard saw the motor waver, smoke and sparked started to issue before the power was isolated. One dead DC32. Is she worth repairing?  :'( Thanks for having me here btw, Andy

As I'm keen on vintage upright vacuum cleaners (especially but not exclusively Hoovers) I was looking for someone, even abroad, to share my experience and, maybe, find some interesting tips concerning the restoration of very old models.
I thank you very much for giving this opportunities to all the people who like or collect and can restore/repair vacuum cleaners.

Hi there
Typed into google
dc25 motor problem.
Saw MV Vacs forum.......hoping I can get it sorted through the forum and your guidance.
Main Motor making a lot of noise, roller bar not working.
Stripped it all out and cleaned everything, belt fine, wires intact, put back together.
Still lot of noise and decided not to run it too much in case it makes it worse.
May have to take ball out and see if something has broking off ?
Any advice would be great.
Bob

Searching using Firefox - for Dyson DC25 tear down/ assembly. Got search return for Beko1987 on the site, great walkthru - saved my vac! Was a vacuum I'd bought used for 50 dollars ( Canadian). Had torn down to clean as was filthy, did not even want to touch or work on it so dirty.  Put in a power switch and new cord and it ran like a dream. Once I'd got it put back together properly re Beko. It is great the info that is shared on the site!

Your site came up as one of the several options.
Thank you.

Welcome. You'll find a wealth of knowledge here.

You’re absolutely right. Today I replaced the yolk wiring loom, well I took  the machine apart and rewired the yolk with a more substantial wire. It appears to have worked, the brush head was only working intermittently, now working well. Followed material on this site to do this. So great and thank you.

Hi!  🕵 I found you by accident. Don't you love Google! 😉 I hv a DC 15. I've had it about 5 or 6 years. My mother bought it brand new. Not sure when but I believe she had it as if not longer than myself. I've taken it apart 100 times to clean it. I went a little deeper this time as I had loaned it to a friend and was disappointed when I got it back. Anyway, I can't figure out how to get the brush bar motor back the way it was. Actually it's the wires. I can't get them to fit right. Usually I'd take pictures (I did, just not of the 1 thing I needed a picture of)  Anyone hv any ideas?

Hi, found you on Google - where else?

I have a SEBO X4 which, after being used for years, recently and without warning, appears to have burnt its motor out.  I bought a replacement motor from you which I fitted yesterday.

Now I have a problem!!

Although the motor is spinning freely and it appears to work as long as there is no load on it, as soon as is it used on even a hard floor, so there is only a light load, there is a distinct burning smell as if the brushes are arcing badly. Using it briefly on a carpet makes it a lot worse.

I'm concerned that the burnt out motor was the symptom of another problem and unless that is sorted before we use the SEBO, this motor will burn out too.

There doesn't appear to be mechanical issues so this has become a real puzzle!

Does anybody have any ideas?

Hi,

I put "vintage vacuum cleaners" into a search engine, and this website came up.

I have a few old vacuum cleaners etc to dispose of , and I would like them to go to a collector if possible.

I can send details and pictures.

Regards.
Ed.

Hi, I found you in my hunt for help to fix my sebo x4.
It seems to be stuck in the raised position and the check brush and bag clog lights are flashing red. I have checked thoroughly for clogs (and removed one) and have replaced the filters but it’s still stuck and flashing.
Any ideas?

hi.  I found you with a search with BING.  I typed-in replace ball motor on dc24.  I have several Dyson products.  I have a DC14 animal, 2-DC24s for my small cleaning business, DC35 cordless stick vac, 04 bladeless fan and 05 bladeless heater/fan and have had them for quite some time, so things are beginning to need some repairs.  The 2-DC24s: one needs a ball motor repaired and the beater bar won't work on the other one. :'(  The third issue: the 05 bladeless heater/fan-the remote changes the digital speed number on the unit, but the unit keeps the same speed.  Or, sometimes, I change the speed number and 30 minutes later, the unit will suddenly change speed.  Anyway, I need to get one of these DC24s working for the upcoming week, so, thanks for letting me vent.

Having decided to repair rather than bin our DC40,  which had become noisy and was smelling of ozone and burning electricals, I searched with google for "strip down rebuild Dyson DC40" and Manchester Vacs was top of the list. Our machine is now nearly reassembled with new motor, but now I need advice and information, so i signed up to the Dyson Forums. I admire your repair-and-re-use philosophy, and the friendliness of your website. Thankyou.

I have a vac shop, and major appliance business. My full time Vac guy retired last fall, and now in between washers and refrigerators, I have to repair the more difficult vacuums. Dyson fits that description. I found this forum when searching for tips on repairing a DC40. I don't wish to sound sacrilegious, but I do find Dysons to be a bit over engineered.

Yes well over complicated, soft weak plastics on some models.
I rarely touch anything newer than a dc40/41 now.
It was good years ago working on 04, 07, 14, 24,25 and 33 models so easy to repair and built like tanks.

Our DC25 brush motor stopped working so I thought I would try and find out a bit about its workings so I could fix it. I found this forum on google and read lots of threads before having a close look at my machine. Tested voltage available and my test meter read 17.4volts AC which seemed an odd figure. I took the side off and behold the broken white wire as predicted. I put a temporary join in place and the brushbar started working again so loom and suitable torx screwdriver set ordered. Brilliant! Thanks for allowing people like me access to such a wealth of information   :icon_nod:

Ball and motor bucket has to be removed, take your time and take photo's of disassembly just in case.
After removing the motor bucket you will have access to a couple of torx screws that you wouldn't normally get to, check these and nip them up.
There is a text description somewhere i did of this procedure, probably in the dc25 dept...

Aye ok.
Beko has a stripdown / rebuild post in the dc 25 dept which is very good.
People panic as they lever the motor bucket out and the wires unclip from the rhs plastic plate, but if you are careful, patient and take time you will succeed.
Let us know how you get on.

Hello
Just to introduce myself, Emrys in the windy Pennines. After a recent sideswipe from the wife’s DC 25 at breakneck speed into my ankles ive now realised why we replace so many vacs. I’ve concluded that I’m going to try and repair now, rather than replace.( corona virus lockdown also helped make the decision) and have identified a very broken “ iron swivel arm lock” and hope to rectify myself...gulp.but after looking online at a DC 25 video on a parts breakdown I’m not sure. My day job is a Barber with not much engineering skills apart from a new plug on some clippers. If I am gonna do the task though I’ve figured this is THE place to find out how, so er Hello and wish me luck. Thanks

Hi there,

I can't remember how I found you!

Probably googling Sebo vacuum cleaners, either that or through youtube. Anyway, I remember thinking that your seemed to be a great source of info and parts, and so I made a mental note of your website.

I've just taken delivery of a replacement motor (the alternative one) for our X4, and I have a couple of questions about fitting it. However, I first need to search through the forum and website, to see if I can find the answers.

Don't you just hate it when noobs ask questions, where the answer has been repeated many times, just that the noob hasn't bothered to look?

I ended up here by accidently sliding the cylinder too far when emptying my wife's almost new V11 Animal.  According to the sticker, its a G2D-US-MMC..... model.   But it seems as if the naming convention and market naming and parts naming is not always consistent.

https://miexpat.smugmug.com/BackyardMayhem/2020/Reference-Info/i-KFLNDzN

The conical red seal and a gray retaining ring popped off.   In the process of fixing that, I could not get the retaining ring to snap.   I kept checking the embossing in the seal and the notch in the ring, round and round, eventually,  I ripped the seal.  Then I snapped the retaining ring as it probably wasn't meant to be take on and off so many times.....  The hole deep.    I've ordered a replacement big bin assembly for my dear wife... but, I want to try and repair this one... searching and searching, I could not find a bill of material assembly breakout and I eventually landed here.

https://miexpat.smugmug.com/BackyardMayhem/2020/Reference-Info/i-F84KP6p

Still don't know if I'll find what I'm seeking, but, gosh, I never knew vacuums could generate such a passionate following.   I'm sure there's a pun sucked into that statement somehow...

Scott

Hey there from Heaton Chapel (waves across the A6...)

Initially found this site trying to repair a friend's Dyson DC17 (or was it an 18 or 24 - I cant' remember now).  I decided then I'd never own a Dyson as it was all nasty hard brittle plastic.

Anyway, I made a note of the place, as we've got a Sebo X1.  I've just got two broken X4s by family members to fix - so I'll probably say hi a few more times yet

I’ve been a vacuum cleaner and floorcare engineer for almost 20 years, I’ve been around cleaning machines all my life as I work in the family business. fortunate to say I really enjoy what I do for a living.

I also collect older, interesting machines, particularly Dyson, Numatic, Sebo and the odd Nilco. Always on the look out for more! The hunt continues. . .

I should have added; I have acquired 1 Shark cordless (ion flex or something) and already regret it. They are really poorly engineered and poorly built. Dyson have surprised me with generally how nicely made their cordless vacuums are.

The Shark has an issue where the brush roll errors as if its jammed, but it isn't. Thinking it might be the PCB motherboard or something.

Hi My name is Kim, I live in Arizona. I am a 60 yr old female who tries to fix most of my stuff myself. I have a dc41 and so far I have replaced the power head, internal hose with the help of a great video I found, The main hose, Release clip on the dust bin. (which works kind of funky because it was different than original) and the yoke assem . All went well and worked great.
A while back my cleaner head quit, I know it is not my cleaner head,  I just replaced both switches so it was not them. I am almost sure now it must be a broken wire (Somewhere).  I tore it partly down and found both the black and white wire had bare wire showing where it was being smashed but it was not broke in two. I taped it just to see if that may have been the problem. still no power to the head.  I have been using this vac on the bare floor with the power head not spinning, of course, since Christmas. The other day I reclined it way back and went under a chair and lo and behold the head started spinning. As soon as I raised it back up just a hair it stopped spinning. Bad connection or almost broken wire somewhere?  Looking for a video on changing the yoke cable assembly wire or harness on the DC41. I Also just received the change over hose in the mail which also has gone bad but I did find video on that.   I also have a DC14 given to me from a friend. It needs a new Housing iron Ass cover because it is cracked in two. That part will be here today sometime so I will be looking for a video on how to change that out. So far what I have read is that they were ready to pull their hair out when they changed it. So here I am after hours of looking and reading. Great site here. Any advise greatly welcome. I will be sure and post how they both come out. Whether they now work again when I am finished or whether I smashed them.  Just kidding.

Hi , just registered on your forum.
Back in the early 70's I was one of the original Hoover factory field engineers.
Around the mid 70's the name Dyson was buzzing around. We were told, rightly or wrongly, that he, Dyson, had tried to interest Hoover in his new suction cleaner idea.
But Hoover was locked on to the business model of selling consumables, bags/belts etc to their customers.
Us engineers found the Dyson concept and the build quality quite remarkable.
We warned at meetings that unless Hoover stopped churning out rubbish cleaners and washers, the name Hoover would simply become a generic term, like Biro.
But the company was run by accountants who could not factor in consumer brand loyalty. And the rest is history.
A number of my contemporaries jumped ship and worked for Dyson. At that time he was a hands on MD, and he hosted many a knees up at his UK pad.
Then he went to hide in Singapore- and again the rest is history. The build quality dropped and the prices skyrocketed.

I'm an old geezer now and fix stuff for my kids and grandkids. The DC 07 and DC14 all floors, in all, are as good as you'll find

My name is John and I found this forum through hunting for information on how to fix the household DC39 Animal. The motor is pretty well burnt out.
My wife and I now live in Greece but we used to live near Manchester (little village called Lowton) and I used to be a member of the Manchester model railway club so I guess it was fortuitous to find you guys (& girls!).
It seems a very helpful place already so I look forward to reading a lot.
I probably can’t help that much but I am pretty good with small electric motors!

The Shark has an issue where the brush roll errors as if its jammed, but it isn't. Thinking it might be the PCB motherboard or something.

No, never leave Sharks alone. Once you crack them they are simplicity itself. Every model is identical in structure, so learn one learn them all. Motors are easy with a £26.99 Belaco stick vac (corded)

Sadly the floorheads do suicide themselves annoyingly

I did very well out of a job lot of them but got very lucky and only had 1 blown motor, and won a brand new motor unit for one on ebay for £15 to obtain said motor (from the used base it replaced)

Hi - i found the forum courtesy of Manchester Vacs. They supplied me a new roller brush for Sebo x4 extra. The brush was/is tip top but i have figued out that the problem is the spindle won't rotate: lots of noise but no rottaion.

I found a video on the site about motor strip down... I'm thinking that the motor might be OK and the problem is with the drive.

Just ocurred to me that this should be a separate post, once i havce said hello. I'm pretty sure you'll tell me  ;)... grateful for where i should post this
Cheers
Keith

Found the site and the forum here after searching for a decent vac (Something I've had little success with for some reason).

Now got a refurbed X4 1300 from mvacs and a few other little goodies to go with it.

Finally got it working after delivery this morning - had a weird minor issue which I'll post about separately.

Im hoping this sebo will put an end to my woes and also allow me to finally be able to clean inside my car properly.

Thanks,

Steve.

Picked up a Dyson Ball Animal for pretty cheap and it works great, but having some issues with the brush bar working intermittently. Also the locking mechanism isn't the best.

All in all, I like to tinker with thinks and hopefully I can get this sorted.

Hi Everyone I have just started fixing & re-selling vacuums in the last couple of months so this looked like a good place to be. I'm not a collector as such I just get em & flip em hence the name. I enjoy keeping things off the scrapheap if I can. I have a pretty good supply line of broken & unwanted vacs and I am almost used to the wet dog smell already. Look forward to being a part of the community

I looked online for answers to my issues with my Sebo X1 and found this forum. I am looking for help with height adjustment issue that occurred yesterday. The green lights to move the machine height are no longer coming on, and the machine is stuck at full height. Initially the bag full light came on, changed the bag, then no adjustment after that. The brush roll is pretty new and all filters have been swapped recently, plus a new pub board fitted as prior to this issue I was getting false clogs lights, now this. Any suggestions at what may be causing this?

Hi, found this via a search for Dyson spares. I originally repaired white goods at a time where very few plastics were in use... well over 45 years ago  :snivel: before gaining qualifications in electronics. Moved over to Banking and Retail electro/mechanical engineering (ATM and Self checkouts). Eventuality managing engineer skills, training and documentation  :reading:. Now retired and so back own in-house repairs and service which includes an old DC07 and DC40. The DC40 suffered from a broken upper duct/spine (likely due to additional pressure being exerted to a falling drop down stand). Looking forward to the journey of this forum.. :tiphat: Thanks Peater

I was trying to figure out how to repair our DC)03 which has lost drive to the brush wheel.
I was searching for a contact or advice and found this site.
I am pleased to have found you - but I am still unsure how the site works or whether I have to pay anything ? ? ?    Any comments would be welcome.
Regards
Eric

Hello Eric, nothing to pay on the forum.

There's a clutch refurb/repair topic here you might find of use, it's not a DC03 clutch but they are very similar. Look here: https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,748.0.html

Hello,
I knew about this forum a couple of years ago by chance. Just watched youtube about changing WM bearings, that guy did dyson refurbs as well, so I looked for info about dysons out of curiosity and discovered this site. Then use it for information about different Dyson models when they're were on Gumtree, but really never had dysons by myself.
Recently I got dc07 (freebies) without suction, scratched and filthy and decided to try to refub it. Mostly I was interested in this process itself, not in a result as I already had 2 hoovers.
Just couldn't send it to skip, it was so lovely!
My Dyson had some problems: huge crack in bin flap, hole in an internal hose, old clutch with overstretched belts, no rope seal in soleplate, so no wonder that there wasn't  any suction.
That's when your site came very handy (to get parts) plus watched youtube clips from forum's members (Beko, Parwaz, Alec...Thanks guys , it was very helpful).
Refurb was successful and now it's my main hoover.
Only a small problem is left, I'm going to sort it out later.
