One of the things I often see being moaned about is how to re-size imagery to less than 750kb to fit on here. Whilst there are lots of arguments as to why 750kb is living in the stone age, this isn't our forum, and we don't pay the cost of the storage.
Back in the good old days, I used to hotlink my images from Picasa. Google stopped that service in favour of the vastly inferior Google Photo's (but kept the images and links luckily), so now I upload them to here, 9 at a time on every post!
And I use a bit of software to do that called IrfanView.
First, you need to make a new folder to put all the resized pictures within your project folder
[attachimg=1]
The software itself comes from this amazingly 90's looking website! You need the plugins too for the batch conversion
[attachimg=2]
Once installed and opened, you will see this
[attachimg=3]
Go to file, then batch conversion/rename
[attachimg=4]
In the top right part, navigate to the folder with the pictures in, then select all and press Add (there's an add all button)
[attachimg=5]
They want to be in the bottom box when added
Next, click advanced here to set up the conversion
[attachimg=6]
I won't bore you with what could be done, but this shows what I do, a basic resize and text overlay
[attachimg=7]
OK out of that when done (and save it if it's a good profile, incase you need to re-install the software due to a PC rebuild etc). Then, set the new folder we made earlier as the output directory (you can see I last used this for the DC40 thread)
[attachimg=8]
Find it here. As you can see, you cant make a new folder from this window

Once done, hit start batch
[attachimg=1]
and it will start work
[attachimg=2]
My not too powerful server/pc works at about 2 a second, and barely blinks its eye
[attachimg=3]
In the time it took to get that screenshot (and I had to pause it to open up task manager in time) it was done
[attachimg=4]
and as long as all the file sizes are below 750kb job's a goodun! You can see the difference here, it does strip quality out of the picture, but I delete as I go with the thread writing so I don't get confused and loose track, and only keep the originals!
[attachimg=5]
I hope this helps people write rebuild threads! It's probably a bit overkill for one or 2 images here and there, but tbh it's not a massive chore, once you have it set up you just choose the files and press go.
I'd best write this shark up soon now I've just re-sized it!

Excellent bit of kit.
Instead of 1024 x 768, wouldn't it be better to resize to 600 wide? That would pull the file size down too by default with no quality loss.
That's all I do in Paint.
Another option (from an iphone) is to email them to yourself selecting "medium" size. That's what I do as I use a phone to take the pics but a desktop PC to write stuff up.
And yes, I know its a pain resizing photos for people, but phones take photos at something like 3000-4000 wide nowadays and the software displays at something like 700 max (so it works on phones tablets etc). Having huge file sizes would slow the page down, cost us much more money to host and we'd actually take a Google hit for a slow site.
