Title: DC08 Contact Head - Split Hose
Post by: __russ__ on May 01, 2011, 09:41:51 PM
Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement internal hose for a DC08 Contact Head?

I know I can bodge it with some duck tape but would like to do it properly.

Any other fixes people can suggest? Seems daft to buy a whole new head just because the hose is split!

I've Googled to see if I can find just some general flexi pipe/ducting but finding it in the right size is proving difficult  :'(

Thanks in advance!

There are several DC08 contact heads. There is one that the hose is known to split on.

Is this the square concertina type hose?

That's right, the one with the square concertina hose running through the middle. The hose just seems to split and get lots of little holes in the creases at the edges.

We have scrapped many a good head because that hose was split. Dyson don't won't supply it, and we have never found anything comparable that will fit instead either.  :(

You might be out of luck on that one Russ.

Thanks, I feared you might say that - what a waste  :angryman:

That's obviously the reason why even the second hand units fetch so much on eBay!

Anyone who produces a replacement would be onto a winner IMO - I'll report back if I ever find a solution!

Good forum BTW  ;D

Would you believe it?  I've just found this site, and I've had a DC08 for years and years.  Good machine, except for that awful hose in the contact head.  It's clearly a problem that they all get eventually.  I've got on to Dyson to ask for a senior manager to explain their policy of not supplying a spare part for one that fails so easily.

I just had a DC08 come in with the Rectangular Internal Head Hose shredded, did anybody ever find a supplier of these hoses? Usually I would suggest a replacement Head but this is my neighbours machine and I want to help him out :(

Of course I have other dyson heads here but the way they connect has changed of course..lol

A careful repair with duct tape seems the only way.

I did once price having them made but demand didn't seem high enough to warrant the expense of making them.

I'm trying to repair the square hose in the DC08 Contact Head but am having trouble taking it apart without damaging it. Cant find anything useful on YouTube. Is there such a video? if not could someone make it. That would be very helpful.
