Title: Manchester Vacs News
Post by: MVOlga on February 17, 2012, 09:54:11 PM
Our plan with this topic is to add posts about new events that may be of interest. If something is on offer, something is no longer available or we stock a new line, etc. It will keep our forum readers up to date with any news.

First item: We have now finally run out of some new DC01 parts: the new DC01 combined fixed base and sole plates we imported. They look like this......

[attachimg=1]

If you do not know the difference between the two types, there is a topic here: Dyson DC01 Variants: Fixed and Swivelling Sole Plates -- The Differences. (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,5.0.html) The swivelling type we still have.

We are also out of YDK type DC01 motors. We still have some used Ametek ones.

There is a topic about the supply of DC01 and DC02 parts here: Dyson Discontinue Support and Parts Supply for the DC01 and DC02 (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,414.0.html)

Nobody that we can find now has the DC01 YDK motor or the fixed sole plate in stock. We will of course get some good ones from old machines we dismantle, and we will be starting a "wants" book for anyone waiting for them. If you need a DC01 YDK motor or a fixed sole plate, to get on the list for a used one, contact Claire in our shop. Our contact details are >>here<< (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/dyson-shop.html) and please make sure you send us a number too.

The DC01 parts page has been updated today. Some new parts have gone down in price, some stuff that is unavailable now has a link to shoot us an email to get on the waiting list to be informed when we get a used one.

The good news is that we got a fresh batch of DC01 brush rolls in yesterday that I thought had finished.

Our Dyson trade tool set looks like this:

(https://shop.manchestervacs.co.uk/image/cache/catalog/unoff-tool-set%20(1)-400x300.jpg)

Recently, we were not able to get the Draper screwdrivers we need fast enough, or in the quantities we need from our regular tool suppliers.

We didn't want to use cheaper, inferior brands like Silverline (because our tech said they were rubbish and people might complain). So what we did was approach Draper themselves. Eventually, they agreed to supply us direct.

What this means to you is that all the torx screwdrivers we now supply in our trade tool kits are Draper ones; the T8, T10 and the T15. The latter two are still tamper-proof tips. All are the better spec ones are now with the strengthened tips. All three now match each other in your tool box. We supply this stuff to the trade, and you guys expect good quality stuff that lasts.

The other good news is, although we have increased the quality, we haven't increased the price because we have cut out the middle man.

We have a new line: Dyson DC33 and DC33i rear back telescopic hoses.

They are superb quality after-market items claimed to exceed the quality of the originals.  To us they look like OEM, but we haven't confirmed that yet.

As usual we are happy to beat the price of the larger sellers.  Dyson charge £25.21 including delivery for one of theirs, Espares charge £27.48 including delivery for oner of theirs.

Ours look like this-

[attachimg=1]

We are charging just £23.50 including UK delivery.  ;D

As we don't have a specific DC33 parts page on our site yet, if you want one, you can click this link to put one straight in your shopping cart: >>Buy DC33 Back Hose<< (http://www.romancart.com/cart.asp?storeid=50952&itemname=Dyson%20DC33%20Back%20Hose&price=23.50&quantity=1)

We came by a very very clean Dyson DC01 De Stijl in recent days. They look like this:

[attachimg=1]

It has not only all the original tools and adaptor, but even the flat floor tool that originally came with these models.

We will of course be stripping and reconditioning it and it will be rebuilt and fitted with new filters and belts etc.

These are very thin on the ground now and are becoming quite collectible in this condition. If you want a piece of Britain's manufacturing heritage, where practicality meets retro chic, get in touch with us.

Today, we got a big box of new (OEM we think) DC01 front bumpers (furniture guards) in yellow to suit swivel-soleplate models (Original part number: 900526-01). They will be going on our DC01 page (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC01-spares.html) over the weekend.  :thumbsup:

[attachimg=1]

We got quite a good price on them considering they are now totally obsolete from Dyson and pretty much unavailable anywhere.

Today we added 'upgrade to first class', 'upgrade to first class recorded delivery' and 'upgrade to Yodel/DHL' in addition to the existing 2nd class 'free' shipping method on all parts orders.

It is simply to give those in a rush some more options. If you are happy to wait a day or two for parts that arrive by 2nd class mail, delivery is still free.

We actually sold that one last week to someone in Scotland (my bad - I didn't update), but I *think* we have another one tucked away in the back we haven't done yet. Give Claire a call between 10-3 any day but Wednesday and she'll work a deal out with you. Failing which, she will take your number and call you when we next get one in to do.

We have several new in the box AB03 silver/grey hand dryers in stock right now. We have had some new white ones and some several very clean used ones recently too.

If you want a Dyson hand dryer, talk to us. They tend to sell fast, and at the moment our supply is small but regular. Even if we are out of stock, you will get the first call when we get more.

We will ship to UK and mainland Europe.

DC14 wand top collars and retaining clips are coming in. They look like this:

[attachimg=1]

These collars and the retaining clip were made obsolete by Dyson some time ago when they changed the wand design.

However, one manufacturer has made them, and we were instrumental in the testing and approval stage. We were asked to give our opinion on the original prototypes months ago and we voted them ay-OK. The photo you see here is a prototype we got last week and we should have stock of these in two or three weeks.  :thumbsup:

Again - we are the first with new Dyson products..........

For more on this, see >>this topic<< (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php?topic=654.msg2085#msg2085).

We have managed to find a source for some of the hard to get Airblade spares. Supply is a little patchy at the moment, but the first thing we are making available (subject to stock) is the HEPA filter to suit models AB01, AB02, AB03 and AB04. Here is one.

[attachimg=1]

They are £39 including UK Recorded Delivery shipping. Please see our Airblade Page (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/Buy-Dyson-Airblade-Hand-Dryer.html) if you want one. We will ship overseas, but it will be by signed-for mail service only.

We have withdrawn the non-genuine Dyson DC04 back hoses we used to sell that looked like this:

[attachimg=1]

There have been some quality control issues with the ones we had recently, and we are not confident to sell any other brand of non-genuine DC04 hose that is currently on the market.

Accordingly, we are currently only supplying genuine DC04 hoses that look like this:

[attachimg=2]

Of course, they are more expensive than non-genuine ones, but in this instance, of superior quality.

Dyson price including shipping: £26.16
eSpares price including shipping: £28.24

Our price including shipping: £25.99

We are also going to add used DC04 hoses to the site in the next few days for those looking for a bargain.

If you need one, they are here: DC04 spare parts (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC04-spares.html).

Well, never let it be said that we don't travel far and wide to bring you good deals. Last week, we went to collect some stuff from ...... umm quite far away.

[attachimg=1]

That pic was taken where the pink arrow is on this photo:

[attachimg=2]

But we went a bit further than that into Latvia.

[attachimg=3]

I wont mention specifically what we went there for, but while I was there I did notice something entirely unrelated to Dysons at a good price. Russian style barbecue skewers!

[attachimg=4 width=500]

So if you happen to like a barbie, and fancy some, they are on eBay here: Stainless Steel Flat Barbecue Skewers (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330940701069).

We will now collect any Dyson product: vacuum cleaners, washing machines, fans, hand driers, etc. from anywhere in Greater Manchester, Stockport, North Cheshire, Glossop or Tameside and recycle them.

We will also pay to ship any Dyson fan, heater, hand dryer or vacuum cleaner (DC14 or DC+ any higher number than 14) to us for recycling if you are able to package it up and be available for the item to be collected (or drop it off at a local convenience store for small items like hand-held machines).

We have had a few problems recently with Yodel (formerly DHL 48).

It seems we are not alone:

Quote
Ever felt utter frustration when you've waited all day, and taken time off work, for a non-existent delivery? Well, that seems a common source of pain among those who've waited for items from delivery giant Yodel.

The firm, which makes deliveries on behalf of well-known high street and online brands such as Amazon, Boots, Currys and O2, has been the subject of floods of complaints.

We put the long list of complaints to Yodel chief executive Jonathan Smith to find out what's going on — see our Q&A below. He didn't apologise for the problems customers have faced, but did explain why some people find parcels have been left with neighbours they may never have met before.

Common problems include:

  • Online tracking showing packages have been signed for when they've never arrived.
  • Tracking wrongly stating Yodel has attempted delivery.
  • Parcels left with neighbours or on doorsteps without the customer's consent.
  • Yodel customer services unable to locate parcels.

So we have switched all our machine deliveries to UPS (who are generally awesome), mid size parcels to City Link, TNT and occasionally Fedex (who are all quite good) and small parcels (like motors, etc.) to Collect+ (who are faster than Royal Mail with most items).

We have now dumped Yodel completely for unreliability and damage to goods. We have put them in the same category as MyHermes: not fit for purpose.

It reflects badly on us if we use a known bad courier. None of them get it right every time. But UPS/TNT/City Link/Fedex/Collect+ seem to get it right most of the time.

This Easter weekend, we have brand new DC25's on offer at £199 - That's £160 cheaper than on Dyson's website!

They have a one year warranty from us on them (Dyson won't honour the standard warranty on these as they are imports from abroad)

[attachimg=1]

They are not on our site as we only have three and they will probably go this weekend.

Call ahead if travelling a long distance.

Opening times: Saturday 10-4, Bank holiday Monday 10-4. You can click here (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/dyson-shop.html) for our location and other info for visitors.

Edit: These are now sold

Ever wonder where the discarded bits from all the old Dysons go?

Not in the bin or to landfill anyway............

Ours go to a plastics recycler. This was a load of Dyson bits we sent away for recycling today.

[attachimg=1]

Those skips are about two meters tall and about seven meters long. We filled half of one. That's a lot of plastic.  :dead-dyson:

An unusual deviation for us, but we have happened upon a box of Oreck XL brushrolls.

[attachimg=1]

We only have the one box as a one off, so they are on eBay to clear at £12.99 including UK delivery (cheapest on eBay).

Should anyone happen to need one, you can find them here: Oreck XL Brushroll (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330917989225).

If visiting our shop (which means we don't need to mail them out and pay seller fees), they are £10.  :thumbsup:

Today we have launched our massively upgraded Dyson spare parts online shop: Dyson Spare Parts (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/).

The new shop has much upgraded functionality:

Our excellent site techs have been working on the new part of the site for about two months, and we have been testing it and ironing out little niggles the past two weeks or so. So we are pretty confident it will work just fine.

If you do spot any problems, find something that doesn't work, something we could do better or even if you see a spelling mistake, do please tell us either here or via our Contact page (https://shop.manchestervacs.co.uk/index.php?route=information/contact).

Today we have come by some lavender/purple coloured ten metre flexes.

[attachimg=1]

These are actually for Kirby machines (hence the kettle type plug on one end) - but were made by mistake in the wrong colour for Kirbys (which usually have red or black flexes).

So we managed to wangle them off the supplier at cheaper money, as many Dysons are lavender and/or purple.  :-X

Here is the good bit: They are just £8.99  :thumbsup:

We have a few hundred of them only; so when they're gone, they're gone.

If you want one, you can get one here: Replacement Extra-Long 10m Dyson Compatible Flex (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/Lavender-Dyson-Kirby-extra-long-flex-cord-lead).

If the site behaves erratically over the next few days, or you encounter any 'page not found' errors or similar this is why.

Looking through some new ex-Dyson spares we got recently, I found three long-obsolete white CR01 and CR02 inner door handles (950026-03).

[attachimg=1]

People sell copies on eBay for £24.99, these are genuine and cost less!  :smokin:

I also dug out some washing machine outer door handles in both colours, some full outer doors still new and boxed, heater elements and two brand new control panel display big circuit boards!  :o

These can be found on our site here: Dyson CR01 CR02 Inner Door Handle (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/CR01-CR02-Inner-Door-Handle-950026-03).

More rare stuff to come!

Over the weekend we have made a few updates.

The Dyson Airblade spares have been moved to their own section in the shop: Dyson Airblade spare parts (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/Airblade-Hand-Dryer-Spares.html)

We started a new shop section to cover washing machine spares: Dyson washing machine spare parts (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/CR01-CR02-Washing-Machine-Spares.html)

Both those new sections are a work in progress, so they will get larger.

Also, we have updated our hand dryer page since removing the spares from there, now the old Airblade page just covers new and refurbished Airblades: New & Refurbished Dyson Airblade Hand Dryers (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/Buy-Dyson-Airblade-Hand-Dryer.html).

Also, added to the shop is DC41 part cleaner heads, which solves the missing wheel 'sticking to the floor' problem they have cheaper than a new cleanerhead.

[attachimg=1]

They can be found here: Dyson DC41 Part Cleaner Head Assembly (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC41-hard-to-push-repair-assembly-923941-02)

And also updated the forum with the latest security patches.

Elliot is on the left, a chap who works at the Rev is on the right. I took the photo. Hence the poor quality. I took about ten pictures on my phone but the light was bad, this was the best.

Here is another, Elliot on the right, the lady who won it centre, and Olga's hair on the left.  :chuckle:

What is available that costs three times more original than you think it needs to, or should do?

Why does nobody make that little clip? That little bracket? Well, someone might do if you tell them there is a demand.

We came by a pile of rather old new stock over the weekend.

Here are a couple of the rarities that are interesting:

DC01 motors.

[attachimg=1]

DC02 motors.

[attachimg=2]

A DC03 clear cyclone unit.

[attachimg=3]

And last but not least, DC02 cable rewinds!  :o

[attachimg=4 img width=400]

The cable rewinds can be had while stocks last >>here<< (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC02-cable-rewind-901735-02), for one of the motors or the cyclone please >>contact us<< (https://shop.manchestervacs.co.uk/index.php?route=information/contact) to check availability. This stuff isn't cheap as we had to pay strong money to own it and drive a long way, but it is available.

Due to changes in the industry, our DC04, DC07, DC14, DC27 and DC33 motors (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/dyson-motor-ydk-yv-dc04-dc07-dc14-dc27-dc33) now have four buying options:-

Budget: These are what the suppliers call 'made to a price'. These are made to serve the bulk market where people buy on price only (eBay and Amazon for example). I am not terribly fond of them, but some people want cheap.

Premium: These are the super quality motors we have always used and sold that are made in the USA. As the pound is poor against the dollar at the moment, the price of these has risen a little of late. These are the ones we recommend. These are the ones we use on our own machines.

Genuine: While we are adding options, we decided to add genuine in there as well. For those that prefer a genuine part that comes in a Dyson box, we have now made the most popular YV2200 motor available from that page too.

Genuine DC04 Ametek:These are the long-obsolete Ametek motors we still have. Genuine Dyson part number 911930-01. These are only for non clutched DC04's that are lime green/grey, silver/orange or grey/blue.

It is normally impossible to judge the quality of what you are going to buy online when buying a motor for your Dyson (because you don't know what the seller will send you), and buying on price alone can be a false economy as this article suggests: Cheap Dyson Motors - 150 Reasons Not To Buy One (http://dysonmedic.co.uk/cheap-replacement-dyson-motor/). So we have decided to completely demystify it by offering three variants with honest descriptions. We think it better the end user can make an informed choice when buying a Dyson motor. We expect other sellers will follow our example.

Genuine Dyson DC04 wands, flexes and clutched back hoses available only while stocks last.

As some will know, Dyson made genuine DC04 spares obsolete a while back.

As there was a mad scrabble in the trade for the last of what was available, we got as much as we could, and it has been going down fast in recent weeks. We still have the following:

DC04 Wand handles (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC04-wand-handle) - Three colour variants in stock at time of writing. Stock levels low.

DC04 power cord [flex/cable] with switch housing (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC04-power-cable.html). Stock levels medium.

DC04 genuine clutched back hoses (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC04-back-telescopic-hose-911861-01). Stock levels low.

If you have a DC04 and like to use genuine parts, this stuff is no longer available from Dyson. Most other online stores are out of stock already. Buy it now while you still can. Most of this stuff will be gone in the next few weeks.

When we relocate to our new much larger premises (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,2014.0.html), hopefully next month, in addition to the usual Dyson products we are well-known for, we will become official Sebo agents.

Demonstrators, brochures and point of sale stuff has already started arriving.

[attachimg=1]

We will be within easy reach of anyone in Manchester, Stockport, Tameside, Glossop and West Yorkshire. And one of a very small handful of Sebo dealers in the north west.

We will continue to sell reconditioned Dyson machines as we have always done, but for those that strictly want a new machine, we are happier to recommend Sebo as a German-made, very high quality and well-engineered product for the discerning buyer.

From time to time, we source products that are nothing at all to do with vacuum cleaners.

If there is a product that *we* like and use, that we think others may like as well, and it isn't available in this country at a sensible price, we go out and find a factory to make it.

One such product we identified was long, flat blade type barbecue skewers. We bought ours abroad as all that was available here was cheap Chinese stuff of dire quality. If you are of a certain age you will remember Victor Kiam saying on a TV commercial "I liked it so much, I bought the company" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf22bddvLnc). Well, I didn't buy the company, but I did find a factory to make *proper* barbecue skewers.

Our main website and shop has had a HUGE revamp that has took several months to do.

[attachimg=1]

Our site has now finally arrived in the 21st century, and is now much more compatible with phones and tablets than it ever was.

We have now switched over to SSL page encryption across the whole site (rather than just the checkout like most sites), so that makes us much more secure than we were before.

As this is such a large site, we will be fixing little tech niggles for a while ongoing. If you find something wrong, something that doesn't work any more, links that go nowhere, missing images or anything else that doesn't look right, please >>tell us about it<< (https://shop.manchestervacs.co.uk/contact) so we can fix it.  :thumbsup:

Check out our new site >>here<< (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/).

As we are still tweaking the new site, doing general behind the scenes housework and replacing missing images, etc., I have noticed that the forum here has had a few hiccups with the cookies on the "Show unread posts since last visit" link. This is because we have switched over to secure SSL and browsers dont know the difference between http and https, and older cookies break, so when you click that link, it shows almost no unread posts, when in fact there are. For regulars it will right itself within a day or two, but >>this link<< (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php?action=unread;all;start=0) should show you what you missed.  ;)
