Title: DC40 Motor Removal ?
Post by: NikGrey on March 22, 2018, 08:08:22 PM
I have a DC40 on my Bench, its stripped right down and the motor WILL move a little but it seems that One of the Brushes had a moulded body part in the way - I cant see a way of getting the motor out.

Somebody put it in there so it WILL come out but HOW... Help.... :'(

I just worked it out... Twist it Anti-Colckwise and tilt it.. These things are a nightmare to work on :(

So, anybody reading this I feel your frustration but they will come out.. now to fit a new one - wish me Luck  :reading:

Good luck lol
The DC41 is just a nicer machine to work on than the 40, although the motor removal is still a faff on that tbh, worse even

I know you have done it now, but for passing readers, there is a strip down topic >>here<< (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,3166.0.html).

NikGrey: I acquired a DC40 on trash pickup day last week. I know what they cost and it was free. I'm a pensioner. My motto is "If it's free, it's for me". Tested it and was obvious that the motor/fan was bad. Screamed like a jet engine. Stripped it down and just like your experience, could not the get the motor out. Googled for assistance and SAW YOUR POST. Very helpful. Removed motor/fan assembly in minutes. Now have motor assembly and internal hose on order. Joined your forum as I'm sure I'd need help putting this all back together. Thank you.
