Wont switch on
« on: August 14, 2013, 03:56:59 AM »
Hi, my DC07 wont switch on. I have replaced the on/off switch, and cleaned all filters and hoses. How do I know if I need a new motor or just carbon brushes. Haven;t noticed any burning smell. It just won;t start.

Have you checked the continuity of the power lead?

If so, you need to strip it down to check the motor, and if it is the motor, better to swap it than do brushes IMO.

Whenever I've had a dead dyson, with no obvious signs of failure it's been the cable, normally where it enters the switch housing.

As said, check the continuity of the lead, or chop 6 inches off the end of the cable and try. Do you have a spare bit of cable you can wire up and test it with?
