I have inherited a DysonDC01 in my rented accommodation but have been unable to detach the wand no matter what I do? Any ideas?

You take off the cable, depress the coloured clip and pull it up. So yours is jammed?

Yes - jammed with no sign of ever detaching!! The machine looks well used but the wand tools are all in perfect condition as if the previous owner has bee unable to take it part to use them - very very frustrating. Its not working well at all - picks up and then spits everything back out again a few inches away!!
I have tried cleaning it but no improvement......

The spit out problem is a blockage. Take off the complete soleplate with the few screws and unblock the channel there.
The wand is probably a kink or muck in the back hose that is holding it in at a guess. Only brute force will remove that and then investigation to see what was holding it in.

Just be careful yanking it out, the plastics can be very fragile!
Once you do get it out, check the two rubber flaps underneath where the wand goes as well as under the soleplate, blocks up there too if long thin things are vacced up!

Thanks for the tips but although there was a ridiculous amount of stuff packed in there that came out when I removed the sole plate I can see through from one end to the other is clear down the tube but it still won't shift.
Now there's a very strong smell of burning rubber so I've given up and taking it to a repair man!
