Dyson DC31 handheld what's the part number ?
« on: November 01, 2015, 07:01:39 PM »
Dyson DC31

On the cyclone you have the big clip that connect the cyclone to the motor with the filter in-between

My question is under that clip there's a tiny Spring what Spring is it ? Anyone have a part number or a link to where I can buy one ?

Youll be lucky,  the handhelds are sold as complete units,  either motor or cyclone.  Unless someones broken one for spares.

Got a pic of where the spring goes? Would a biro or other tiny dc24 type spring cut down and fit?

Of course you shoukd have a go and document it! We all learn something,  theres buggar all handheld info out there so you may as well be the first to create some!

I tried to get my dc16 apart but it was impossible so I left it alone.

Whats the worse that could happen?

The most I've ever really done on a DC16 is a PCB bypass (blob of solder) and battery changes but on
The newer models there's allways things to do main ones on them I've personally seen is

Trigger switches
Cabling around the bin to power tools
Dirty contacts
Brushbar bearings and spinny bits getting clogged up with hair etc
Batteries
Chargers breaks in the lead

I'm picking up DC35 etc for cheap the one I pick up this evening was 30 all because the brush at wont work and the springs missing but it's got the wall mount and all the tools etc

On average I pay 0-60 for handhelds the newer V6 I haven't seen at all yet

Ok over the next few days while battling work I'll sort one out

This is how I received it

Dyson dc35 in fuchsia pink

Clips Spring broken/missing
Faulty brushbar ( not spinning )

I don't think 30 was a bad price

30 for a DC35 even if faulty is pretty good, you could make a profit selling the parts :) There's the exact model in Wolverhampton for 50, with loss of suction, put off by how far it is and the pink colour.
DC14s are tanks, just need a slightly longer motor life. Do plastic parts often break on DC14s? Nope. DC41- Sexy looking futuristic and powerful machine. Just needs a better designed cleaner head wheel and cyclone clip along with a dense metal rod in the chassis.
