dC25 Roller Not Spinning
« on: November 17, 2015, 05:04:52 PM »
How can I determine which is the problem if the roller does not spin, even when the switch is pressed on. How do I know if the motor is OK, please?

Hi & welcome to the forum, 2 questions: 1) What country are you in ?  2) Do you have a multimeter and feel confident using it ?.

First, you check the yolk loom

https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC25-spare-parts.html/DC25-PCB-Assembly

and replace it as so if it's broken

https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,1670.0.html

If still no luck:
You take the brushroll assembly off the machine, unscrew all the screws underneath bar the 3 at the front (they just hold the front bumper on) and remove the top grey housing. Then you unplug the white and black wires (1 plug) from the pcb, and re-connect the brushroll assembly to the machine. Then you grab a multimeter, recline the machine and turn it on (so it's in the position it should be when vacuuming) and measure the voltage across the motor out pins and report back. If no voltage, jab the brushroll on/off swithc a few times (the reset button is hidden under it). If still no voltage, you need one of these

https://manchestervacs.co.uk/Dyson/DC25-spare-parts.html/DC25-PCB-Assembly

which fits like so
https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,1942.0.html

which also shows the troubleshooting (you dont need to unplug the wires, even easier!) for the PCB

Good luck!

1) What country are you in ?

He is coming out of California, US, 120v land.

We assume he is not a native English speaker as Claire edited the OP for grammar, case and manners.

If he comes back and confirms he is alive, and coherent, we can help him more.

Cheers Stu: I looked at his profile but as with a lot of people, there's no info.
