The DC16 has a docking charger with two electric prons about an inch or two away from each other to correspond with the prons on the battery underneath the vacuum. The Dysons from the DC30  onwards which are cordless have a charger similar to a laptop
DC14s are tanks, just need a slightly longer motor life. Do plastic parts often break on DC14s? Nope. DC41- Sexy looking futuristic and powerful machine. Just needs a better designed cleaner head wheel and cyclone clip along with a dense metal rod in the chassis.

thanks for the reply, i was going to cut the adapter end off and re solder it to the base, just wanted to know that it would be suitable.
