I understand this is a Dyson forum, but I'm an idiot with a problem, a vacuum doesn't do it's job - a Samsun SC4470.

I've replaced the filter, as it needed replacing. I thought this would resolve the problem, it hasn't. There's a sucking/pulling sound like something is blocking the flow of air through the back compartment where the filter is placed. There's a reduction is suction. I'm more concerned that this is a risk. It gets hot to the touch.

Is there anything I can do to fix the problem? Any other advice other than chucking it? I'd rather fix the problem. Thanks.

I have no idea how to edit my original post. I've taken the back cover and filter out and turned the vacuum on, it still makes the same sound. To me I think this means there's something stuck in the motor (?). Anyone have any clever ideas how to fix it, or what to do? I don't know if I can take it apart to clean it out.

Thanks.  :grinn:

I am not familiar with the model.
Can only suggest you disassemble fully and try to work out whats going on.

The only way to fail is not to try.

Maybe a dumb question but is there anything I should be concerned about, like getting a nice shock when I crack her open? Don't worry, it won't be plugged in! Me and my dusty house thank you.

Dont think so, if you do reveal any printed circuit board - there could be a charged cap on there but personally i doubt it.

Maybe wise to video the disassembly on you phone just in case.

:'(

I have no idea how to edit my original post.

Hi just about your editing post:
As I understand it once something has been posted for more than 30mins you are unable to modify the post - not sure on the actual time though - I can edit 5 mins later but not an hour so think 30 mins is the max time you have to modify - thanks

I'll leave behind a video of my stupidity, good thinking!  :tiphat: Seriously though, that's not a bad idea and could help when putting the thing back to together again.  :king:
