Dyson V8 soft roller head

Hello,

Today I disassembled Dyson V8 soft roller head for cleaning and noticed that plastic ring (sorry, I don't know correct English word for this thing) on the motor assembly is completely broken. Am I right that this ring is some kind of dust protection ? Is it safe enough to continue to use this head without this part ? Maybe somebody can point me to the place where I can buy spare ring ? As far as I understand, I can buy only the whole motor assembly as official Dyson spare part, and this option looks quite expensive

You can’t buy most parts for those heads and you are correct that you can only buy a full assembly.

But do I need to worry about this issue at all ? Or I can continue to use this head as before ?
