Dyson V6 Issue
« on: May 26, 2019, 07:58:23 PM »
Hi all,
Before I start I’m sure a lot of you will scream it’s the battery at me however I am writing because it’s never happened to me before like this. Let’s go back a week or two. I must also mention it had a new dyson battery 13 months ago.
I noticed my Dyson V6 (snazzy total clean for anyone wondering 8)) had a slight issue. No matter how long I charged it (up to about 8 hours) the blue battery charging indicator wouldn’t go off indicating it wasn’t charged. So I got on with life and it was used every so often and put on charge for short bursts.
Then a while later I noticed when I put it on charge the orange battery light would sometimes come on even if only used for a few moments and the battery wasn’t hot. Again I never did anything about it.
Today I went to use it and it wouldn’t turn on at all and the red battery light would flash for ages. I went to put it on charge and the red light would flash again. So dyson has given up. Advice would be good I’m sure it’s the battery. It will either be sold as is and a V8 bought or I’ll get a new battery.

Tricky units and can co around in circles faultfinding on these i found.
Worth removing battery, clean the battery terminals and the body terminals inside the handle cavity with a cotton bud and some isopropyl / swich cleaner solution.
If that fails try another charger, in my experience they rarely fail but since it has had a recent battery it would be worth suspecting the charger. ?
The only way to fail is not to try.

I had my first v6 needing a battery the other month. It's ALWAYS been the filters for me, but this time it was the battery. Ebay cheapy battery for £20, v6 fixed, customer happily paid me £45!

Have you checked both charger outputs with a meter?
