Refurbished V8
« on: June 01, 2019, 09:47:22 AM »
Hello people,
I've gone a bit mad and bought V8 from Dyson's eBay outlet.
Sadly I'm just a bit unsure if it's the way it should be.
Basically suction seems to be stronger on V6 when you test it with your hand.
Filters look new, they're white. Is it normal and I'm just overreacting or maybe something's wrong?
In addition to that, there's a little gap on the top where cyclone meets the bin. It's like the bin wasn't locked properly if it makes any sense.
Also the bin emptying is well, better than V6's but still, you pull it and then suddenly it opens and dust goes everywhere.
The battery last longer which a plus. Also the floor head seems to pick up cat litter better. It's kinda noisy though
Gonna keep it for 30 days and if it's much better than V6 I'll just sell V6.

So I vacuumed my whole house.  3 levels, one room on each level, two bathrooms..

Let it charged and vacuumed my bedroom again..

That's still a lot. I know that vacuum will always suck something but it just looks like a lot, doesn't it?

So there's a chance that I've got some faulty unit cause really the suction seems stronger on V6

I cannot feel any air going through that gap but sometimes this gap gets bigger and sometimes smaller. It's kinda strange

I also made a video but you cannot probably see the difference on it

The gap probably pulls tighter under load, all Dysons have always done that. If there is no air leaking through it I cant see how it can be impacting suction.

It isn't all about raw suction though, brush heads are better on the V7/8 which improves performance. From your previous picture it seems to be working OK?

The best part of the v8 is when the bin wont slide open it gets jammed ,

You have to put your big boy pants on cross your fingers and hope it doesnt break when your levering it apart.

Ive had quite a few in now that get stuck its a nasty job to open them but on the bright side it makes the till ring

So I went to Currys to test the suction on a cleaner there as I'm still concerned that it's not very strong.
Sadly, V8 there didn't have any suction and its filters were so dirty that you couldn't even see filter only dust. Inside the machine in the hole where post motor filter is, also nothing could be seen apart from dust.
Couldn't speak to Dyson lady as she was busy selling V11 absolute to some old couple.
As I spoke with my partner, he said that they might not clean older machines on purpose to make those new ones nicer. Do you think that this could be true?
