I've used a DC02 for a major renovation of my mums massive hallways before (plaster off the brickwork etc) and it was fine!
What you want to do is get 3 or 4 cheap used pre motor filters. That way, when they clog up, just swap out and continue, and clean the filthy one up, a good bash about outside will probably work, a trip through the washing machine brings them up like new!
Then as MV says, remove the post motor filter so any fine dust can escape and it'll probably be perfectly fine! For added oomph, remove the belt so it's not pointlessly spinning away (even more so on a non clutched machine as the brushroll will be roaring away as well.
When it blows up, simply go onto facebook marketplace/gumtree and pick up another working one for £10!
