DC25 REset switch
« on: August 13, 2020, 02:51:29 PM »
Recently bought 2 Dyson original reset switches, part 921376-01.  Both were faulty, being jammed in the 'on' position with a permanent low resistance between the terminals. I wondered if there was a bad batch of these around at the moment. Mine were made by KUOYUH. Has anyone else had problems with these ?

That is what they should be, short circuit with the peg down.
If a fault or jam on the beater bar / motor develops then the current will increase and the switch peg will come out opening the switch circuit developing infinite high resistance.

There is nothing wrong with them.
The only way to fail is not to try.

No, you misunderstand me. I tested the switch itself, not when fitted to the machine.  It should show an open circuit until the operating button is pressed.

I believe not, it should read short circuit.

you shouldn't be able to press it and switch it on or off, they come latched or (jammed) as you describe only the trip current will unlatch it and then it becomes high resistance or open circuit.

The only way to fail is not to try.
