DC05 Motorhead niggles
« on: November 22, 2020, 06:09:48 pm »
Picked up a DC05 Motorhead (for a good price once a discount, Best Offer and partial refund was processed!) that's in need of some TLC. Hoping others here may be able to shed a light on some shared parts.

In terms of filters, the original one is disintegrating. Fine and fair enough, but the spares are all blue in colour and the Motorhead has clear plastic - so it shows through really obviously and I hate how it looks. Did any of the non-Motorhead DC05s use the same kind of purple foam filter that I could potentially cannibalise?

The other thing is bearings in the powerhead. I don't know what the grey substance is, but it's like concrete and I'd rather replace the bearings if I can. Again, spares are scant, was this a shared part with any other head?

I don't ever recall seeing a purple filter in a DC05, just the usual blue and yellow one.

The head is unique, so you'll be unlikely to find that bearing. That one will cleanup though.

Damnit. Wondered if the DC05 Absolute or one of the others might use a purple one. I guess I'll keep an eye out for a spares Motorhead or some decent purple foam I can cut myself.
