dc41 mk1 and mk2 (pre EU and post EU) cleaner heads
« on: February 01, 2021, 01:46:59 PM »
I've got 4 dc41's 2 mk1s and 2 mk2s and one of the mk1s is completely fine and so are both of the mk2s but the other mk1 has a broken bin clip, it needs a new post motor filter and its brush roll head is jammed. I've stripped it completely down and the problem is 100% the motor, I have 2 mk1 heads and 3 mk2 heads but I've been told by @dysonrepairsbolton on Instagram that it isn't safe to put a mk2 head on a mk1 because it sends different signals to the PCB.

Are the motors the same size? So I can swap the motors
Thanks

By MK1 and MK2 you mean ERP and non ERP? One with a red slider and one without?

Yes one has a red slider and the other doesn't, also the non-eu one is wider

It used to be accepted wisdom that you don't fit one on the other as the PCBs do differ.

But the brushroll motors are the same. So in theory it shouldn't matter.

And they do fit, and you'd think Dyson would have made the fitting different if they were liable to cause issues down the line.

We tend to replace like with like, but another Dyson specialist we know routinely fits either or and reported no issues when we once discussed it.

ok thanks but I think I'm going to scrap the machine anyway because it also needs a whole yoke assembly because its yoke is broken and the internal hose clip is snapped and it also needs a post motor filter and a bin release clip and the amount I'd have to spend on those and completely stripping it down just isn't worth it, especially as it won't sell for at least a few moths so its just taking up storage I could use for another machine
