dc04 clutch prob

hi all neby to the site so thanks for letting me join any way any help and advise would be great rebuli about dc07s dc14 dc 33 s etc and am now rebuilding a dc04 absolute clutch model norm i strip and rebuild  clean replace etc with the clutches i  by the kits and replace the roller the  belts and the clip done prob about 20 so far  but his one is being odd it came in with the clutch not working to did the usual strip replace etc on the bench the clutch out of the machine works fine in the machine it wont engaged the brush roller  ive had it a part 4 times still the same any ideas the spring tension is good it clicks in and out no gras on the flat mating surfaces of the plates im abit lost now any body exerienced this before any help really appreciated

You've just done something wrong during the rebuild. There's two excellent videos on this topic that will no doubt help you find it.
