Hi Dysonheads - Just bought a 2nd hand DC32 (same as DC23) and noticed the dust lid hard to open - when I press the release button the clear handle seems loose/unattached and flexes the other way - as if it has come unstuck/unscrewed. I notice the other end of the handle is held by a screw. I have checked this on my DC23 and it is the same and also hard to open - which might be a recent thing as I have never noticed before. Do I need to glue the handle down? Or is this normal play and the release latches are just gritty and needs cleaning? Cheers Paul

It appears the play in the handle is intentional as there is kind of a stop to that play also - not sure what it is for. Anyway I cleaned and rinsed the red latch mechanisms - the slider rod comes out, latch button and around the catch on the flip lid. Dried them off and I have put a bit of cycle chain dry PTFE lube everywhere and they both seem to be flipping open much more smoothly and with less force.

Just rinsed the filters - I think one of them had never been washed - filthy black.

Cheers.

Those mechanisms do clog up over time.

The black post filter is normal too, its carbon from the motor.
