How to replace the external power chord on a Dyson 25

The plug at the end broke - long story - and I can either cut the chord by the plug and splice a new plug or replace the entire chord. How does one go about replacing the chord, without breaking the cover....

Personally, if the cable is sound, I would replace the plug.

But if you want access to the switch housing, put the two bottom screws back in one turn or so, and then - using your screwdriver - push firmly on each screw and this should release the lower part of the cover without breaking anything.

Yes, replacing the plug was my first option. Thought I looked at replacing the whole chord, but just for aesthetic reasons. But practicality will win.
