hi, found this forum through google, hope someone can help.
iv been after a DC01 for a while, i wanted the one with the 'earlier' style dyson logo, looked on ebay for a while for one local to me, but none came up, then last week i went to a local second hand shop with a mate, and to my amazement i found one in there up for £12, so had to buy it obviously! :)
now it seems to work with good suction, but it has an issue where it blows the dirt away from the hoover when you get close to it? i imagine it has good suction but the roller brush is somehow causing it to blow, its as described in this link:

Hi, if you turn the vac on its back and remove the soleplate and check for blockage, you will see the 3 screw that need to be removed. It is quie common for them to get blocked, but looks like a good vac for £12 good luck

i have taken all the bottom apart, and all seems good, it seems to have good suction, if the dirt is heavy it doesnt blow it away and sucks it up fine, but light bits like paper etc get blown away and its almost impossible to suck them up.

The problem with the early ones is the soleplates are unobtainable for them now (we have a waiting list on used ones). The wands are oddball (nylon collar type - although after-market ones usually fit OK) and the back hoses sometimes differ.
But for £12, I would have bought it too - if the one piece soleplate was in good order.
About your blowing problem, are you using this on hard floors or carpets when this happens?
