I saw this for £5 at the carboot today. Normally I walk away from these as their modern and horrible, but for some reason I bought this, another modern Hoover and a lovely DC07. I stripped the DC07 and this down earlier.
Turning it on the bleed valve instantly opened and it sounded blocked. Stank too
Packed solid!
I got crap Henry out and it cleaned up fairly well
It then worked fairly well, so I stripped it down earlier
It's horribly plasticky, and feels horrible to use but does do a good job at grooming the pile and does have some airflow to it (with clean filters...)
Baseplate off
The brushroll is nice and stiff, and rotates well, but the end caps are not removableso I can't really clean it up. Annoying
Handle/extension tube off next
Tools
And hose off
And the 'cyclone' off
My camera decided the back door was more interesting than the post motor 'filter'
Exhaust filter was minging
Front wheels off next
The wheel axles are plastic though
Height adjuster off
Hood off
Power pedal off
Switch out
Metal clamps off and the top seperates from the bottom
Wheels off
I couldnt get the release pedal off and didnt want to break it so left it!
Internal hose off
The back comes away from the spine next
Tool holder off
Handle release button off
Motor housing apart next
Another blocked filter
Wires
Another crap shot, I had to snip a wire to get the mains cable off, stupid crimps
But the 2000w screamer comes out
A bloody PCB on a vacuum cleaner with just an on/off switch...
Bleed valve out next
Probably the best designed piece on the whole machine
A seal off
The peice that holds the handle comes out next
Onto the cyclone
The flap mechanism sits under a cover
I washed the filter, and it came up ok. Could do with replacing but I wont do that!
The filter locking plate comes off now
Top handle off
And apart
And finally the turbo tool!
A nice smear of grease on the moving parts will help it alot!
And stripped! It's washed too, and drying nicely in this heat! Can't say I like it much, you can tell it's been designed by the bean counters, and they have saved 0.002$ whenever possible, and it's a shame to see it bear the Hoover name, or the maytag name, or the argos name, or whatever else it's been badged up as over the years but it's something to do!
More soon!
