Bag full indication (again)
« on: August 27, 2021, 06:33:51 pm »
We've had a Sebo X4 for some time. Almost from new the red 'bag full' light comes on and the machine cuts out. This has been driving me mad but my wife has just put up with it. This seems to be a common problem but the only advice is to make sure the bag isn't full (it isn't), all the filters are clear (they are) and the tubes are not blocked (they aren't). i.e. all the obvious stuff. So it appears to be a fault.
So, how is the pressure/vacuum sensed? The only sensor seems to be the rotary device on the belt drive system - is there  another sensor?
Any help gratefully received!
Peter

The board wants resetting.

If it's a 1300w with this board, there is a screw on the board to adjust it. If its an 1100w with this board, it needs resetting with a tool. If it won't reset you'll need a new board.

Many thanks for your prompt reply.
It's an 1100W version with the second type of board which you say needs a tool to reset it.
Presumably its a proprietary tool so, as I'm happy to change the board myself, it's probably less hassle and cheaper than sending you the machine?
If so, I will order board from you.
Rgds

If you send just the head, sending it will cost under a tenner, a reset and return carriage is £59. Just cheaper than a new board I think. The link to do that is >>here<<.

A new board is usually plug and play of course.

With either option you can add any bags and other accessories you may need and carriage won’t cost any more.

There is now a topic to show you exactly how to do that >here<.

PCB replaced and machine now working fine!
Cannot see how the old PCB could go out of calibration.
As the only way of detecting bag full or blockage seems to be to measure a rise in motor speed, the old board must have been calibrated wrongly (can't see it changing over time)
Or is there a more sophisticated algorithm programmed into the chip which has now been updated.
Very disappointed with Sebo for their lack of interest.

The chip software did get updated from time to time during production.

They can require resetting occasionally. It's not a common fault, but we do see it from time to time.

If you've not binned it, you could send us your old board with a covering note and I'll swap you for a box of genuine bags. We can never have too many of those.
