DC15 cable replacement /repair

Hi. I have obtained a working DC15 with several damages sections on the power cable. I have cut the cable to remove the nasty bits leaving about a metre of decent, undamaged cable going into the casing of the DC15. I have a complete, spare cable that I removed removed from an earlier Dyson (DC04 I reckon). I'm debating whether to try to get to the inside of the machine to swap the cable completely or take the easier option and make a safe connection of the two cables. I have replaced the cable on a DCO4 but not the DC15. All thoughts welcomed. cheers

Been a while since I worked on a DC15, but I think they're pretty much the same as DC07 onwards. Unplug it first, remove hose and wand, then there are screw/screws behind the switch unit which then clips off.
