Dyson V7/V8 Direct Drive Heads Seizing Up?

Does anyone have an explanation or solution to the brushrolls seizing up on these heads? Typically they spin for a few seconds and then seize at the open end where the motor casing fits closely up to them, at the spring end.
I've had several machines in recently with this problem. After cleaning, if they still seize, I've swapped the brushroll for a new one, but the problem persists. It's not a motor issue, as with the brushroll removed, the motor shaft spins freely. It's not a brushroll bearing issue, as the bearings are checked and are moving freely too.
I've even resorted to sanding down the inside end of the brushroll where it contacts the motor casing, and applying a little grease to the sanded area, but it's not helping.
With new heads at £60-70 a time, it would be great to find a fix for this, rather than just telling customers that they need a complete new head?

We never really got to the bottom of it. There comes a point when you stop looking and advise a new part. That's kinda where we are on them. If I put a bloke on a few for a day, he might find a solution. But what do we gain from that? We'd end up including the fix in a service charge and I'd be out a day's wages. So essentially, working for nothing.

Sometimes you can go down the rabbit hole too far. We don't fix cable rewinds, some do. We don't strip Dyson motors, but some do. We don't fix cordless motor unit PCBs, but some do.

There's a time and motion equation to be done. Half an hour/45 mins fixing a component or selling them a new one? The profit is likely similar but the latter way you get the half an hour to do something else. When you have 20 machines in a queue, you need those half hours.

I take your point absolutely. I was just looking at it from a technical, rather than economic point of view. Iit's frustrating that there is no obvious cause here that can be resolved without trashing the whole head.
When you are dealing with your sort of volumes, I can understand that you need to keep the line moving!
