Are the motors with the internal thermal cutout good quality?

As I've used the MTR299 and the discontinued MTR240.

We prefer the ones like the 299 and 240 with the external one.

It all depends on who makes the others. A lot are no good.

Are the other motors that have the thermal cutout on the outside good?

Most regard them as better, yes.

Dyson originally designed them that way, and they designed stuff a certain way for a reason I suppose.

Internal TOC Con:

Heat transfer: May not respond as quickly to temperature changes within the motor, potentially leading to motor damage.

External TOC Pro:

Faster response: It's located externally, so it can quickly sense temperature changes in the motor and provide protection.
Ease of access: It's more accessible for testing, replacement, or resetting.

I have fitted some of those motors with internal thermal cutout and  haven't been a issue.
